Movement by wicket-keeper

"In the Laws it says that the wicket-keeper is not allowed to make significant movement forward while the ball is being delivered.  Is he allowed to make significant movement backwards?"

The wicket-keeper is not allowed to move forwards or backwards after the ball comes into play (when the bowler commences his run-up) and before it reaches the striker.

The wicket-keeper can move forward slightly if he feels that the bowler is going to bowl a slower ball

It is important to remember that the wicket-keeper is a fielder and is subject to the Laws relating to fielders as well to those relating to the specific role that he carries out.

This means that his moving away from the striker is restricted by Law 27.4 (The wicket-keeper)
