4.4 NEW BALL IN MATCH OF
MORE THAN ONE DAYS DURATION
In a match of 2 days or more, a new ball will be available after a prescribed number of overs decided by the Governing Body responsible for the match
The prescribed number cannot be less than 75 overs
The new ball can be taken by the fielding captain any time after the prescribed number of overs has been reached
If the new ball is taken during an over, the part over is ignored when calculating the number of overs necessary before the next new ball becomes available
When the new ball is taken, the umpires will inform the batters at the crease and the scorers who will record the time and the over
